Top of the Pops, 26th May 2022

If rock is over, nobody told My Chemical Romance, who open the show this week. There's also a pleasingly retro feel about our Eurovision-powered highest new entry from Sam Ryder. More contemporary sounds come from Post Malone, friends of the show D-Block Europe and Kendrick Lamar, and there's a welcome return for La Roux doing her cameo on the Tion Wayne track. Harry Styles dresses up as a hobbit for his seventh week at number 1.

Top of the Pops, 21st April 2022

Harry Styles continues to fry all opposition with the force of his pure loveliness, even Jack Harlow who can only reach number 2 (still hugely impressive from him). Not too shabby either is Cat Burns, who makes the top five for the first time.

There's a raft of new tracks on the show this week, including Digga D, Vibe Chemistry and Becky Hill and Ella Henderson trying to out-belt each other, plus a Tyga/Doja Cat collaboration that's spent a few weeks in the lower reaches already. Doja sticks around to exclusively do the Fergie bits for Jack Harlow as well, which is nice.

Harry Styles splats in at the top of the chart and pushes everything else down, meaning that you have to delve right down to the lower reaches to find climbers. They're a pretty good collection, though: not one but two new Rodrigo-alikes in Elley Duhe and Dylan Conrique, and longtime bubbler-unders from Charlie Puth and Sigala.

The big new hits come from Shawn Mendes and Lil TJay, as well as the triumphant homecoming performance from Harry of course.
