Here's one of the more remarkable climbs to number 1: Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us makes it all the way in its 25th week on the chart. Elsewhere there's a fun new duet from AJ Tracey and Jorja Smith, last year's empress Sabrina Carpenter with her newest track plus an oldie, and a rousing show-opener from Sam Fender.

In contrast to last week, chart climbers are few and far between. That means that apart from the still uncatchable Gracie Abrams, only one top ten song is featured: the resurgent Jimin.

It's a bit of a crazy week, with the combined entries of Taylor Swift (in the studio in person this week with her new old song at number 1) and various Halloween favourites pushing everything else down and making climbers few and far between. That means a second performance for mid-level hits from big names Doja Cat and Drake, and surprise showcases for Tems and K A D. Perhaps most surprisingly of all, Wheatus are back! They get Doja Cat to do the girl bit on their song.

It's the weird post-Christmas chart where all the tinsel gets cleared out and the normal music floods back in to take its place. That means newish material from Central Cee and SZA, older 2022 bangers from Anne-Marie and Venbee and Goddard, and a very old, hoary and well-tested number from Tom Odell.

All the congratulations in the world to RAYE. It's been a long journey but here she is at the top.

This close to Christmas, it's not that easy to find charting acts that are still extant. So thanks to Leona Lewis and Ariana Grande for dropping by for their annual festive performances. Earlier, it's a bit of a grime extravaganza as Headie One, Bugzy Malone and the Sidemen are clearly soundtracking their fair share of Christmas parties. And well done to SZA for three new entries this week, none of them obviously related to Christmas.

Wham! deservedly take over the holly-and-mistletoe crown from Mariah Carey.

One may have doubted whether it was possible, but the charts are even more Christmassy this week than they were last week. Elton and Ed are of course number 1, and the parade of festive faves has a pretty long tail: even though a lot of them are by oldies who aren't necessarily available to come on the show, we can delve down and find Leona Lewis and Camila Cabello to bring the Christmas cheer.

And fair play to D-Block Europe, SZA and ABBA for having hits with songs that aren't so Christmas-adjacent. D-Block do have their Santa hats on.
