Top of the Pops, 28th March 2024

It's quite a male line-up this week, with only Ava Max flying the female flag - even the first lady of country and western Beyonce has been knocked off the top spot in favour of Benson Boone and his questionable gender politics. Still, there are fairly storming performances from hoary growlers Teddy Swims and Rag 'N' Bone Man, and a more polished offering from V.

Noah Kahan makes a surprise return to the show, and the show is somewhat stolen by none other than Mark Knopfler and a stage full of six-string virtuosi.

There's also a debut for Songer, a return for friend of the show Becky Hill, and a slightly rum collaboration from The Weeknd. And were it not for Bextor, Natasha Bedingfield would be attracting quite a lot of attention for her own triumphant comeback - can she breach the top ten?

Justin Bieber launches an assault in earnest, smashing in with three songs, two of which are performed tonight. That causes a lot of other high-up songs to drop down the chart, so we have to go quite deep to fill the show (not that that's a bad thing) - hello James Arthur at number 43!

Top of the Pops, 4th March 2021

The top ten is fairly static this week, which means the show can feature some lower-down hits that have been waiting a few weeks for their chance. That means welcoming Duncan Laurence, as well as the latest hit from Ava Max. Glass Animals are back on the show and it's nice to see Ella Henderson, duetting here with Tom Grennan. Transatlantic star power comes from Cardi B, Doja Cat and of course the immovable Olivia Rodrigo at the top.

This week's exciting new hit is from Jason Derulo and his buddy Jawsh 685. Other than that the chart continues to move slowly: there are returning performances from RAYE, 220 Kid, Young T and Bugsey, and Ava Max, who seems permanently stuck in the 20s and 30s. Oh, D-Block Europe have a new one.

What will blow your mind, though, is a special one-off exclusive collaboration between DaBaby, Roddy Ricch and dirgetastic chart legends Nickelback, who mix their respective "Rockstar" hits together to create something truly unforgettable.
