Top of the Pops, 22nd June 2023

It's Dave and Central Cee's week again: Sprinter stays at the top and their two other collabs both reach new peaks just a little lower down. Not even a strong showing from J Hus and global superstar Drake can spoil their party.

Party vibes are also brought by the Jonas Brothers, Rudimental, and in unbelievably basic form, Nathan Dawe and Joel Corry. There's a rousing return for Sam Fender and a pretty surprising instance of Shania Twain as well.

Legend in her own lifetime Taylor Swift is back on the show, soaring up the chart with Karma. Other big pop names who are featured include friend of the show Dua Lipa, and arguably the Jonas Brothers, who finally climb high enough to get on after a couple of months in the lower reaches of the chart.

Lil Durk is back for another bite, and Ellie Goulding ropes in J Hus to add a bit of grime flavour to Miracle in its seventh week on top. A Tina Turner tribute is in the From The Vault slot.

Top of the Pops, 6th January 2022

The Christmas season is more or less over but the chart lags behind slightly, meaning there's one final fling for the festive tunes from George Ezra, Olivia Dean and the Jonas Brothers. Elton John is also here in person so we get a double serving from him.

Well done also to Fireboy DML (plus King Ed) and Mabel for having non-Christmas songs that are climbing the chart. A good early sign for 2022?

Football fever grips the nation. We have to make do with another From The Vault clip of Three Lions, but Fat Les do reform and come into the studio to rouse everyone's spirits further.

Off the field, there's a new chart peak for the current Jonas Brothers single, a new track involving Drake, dancefloor royalty Becky Hill, and a couple of the less well-known songs from Miss 2021, Olivia Rodrigo. King Ed Sheeran reigns at the top for a second week.

Top of the Pops, 20th February 2020

Superduo Future and Drake are back in the studio, between them just about eclipsing Justin Bieber's star on a pretty stacked TOTP. The highlight must be the two of them guesting on a souped-up exclusive performance from friend of the show Camila Cabello.

We've also got new stuff from Joel Corry, both new and old stuff from Selena Gomez, and a second week up top for the 1980s stylings of The Weeknd.

Top of the Pops, 30th January 2020

We're still ground to a halt near the top of the chart, so most of the interest is lower down, including a couple of rare invitees from outside the top 40. Not that that means a drop in star power: BTS are a pretty big name after all.

The exception is Eminem (with beyond-the-grave support from Juice WRLD) who crashes in at the top spot. Still got it.

Debuts: None

Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus are still at the top and in the studio once again, giving ol' Billy the chance for a cheeky cameo on the Wiley track as well. Ava Max brings us both of her hits so far, and there are chartbreakers from Lil Dicky and, yet again, Jonas Blue. No idea what that guy's appeal is but at least he gives a lot of guest singers their moment in the spotlight.

Singersongwritermania continues to grip the UK: Tom Walker charges to a new chart peak, Lewis Capaldi still has the best seller, and George Ezra has now been on the chart for an entire year with Shotgun.

But other genres are well-represented: RnB from Khalid, fun pop from the Jonas Brothers, pop masquerading as indie masquerading as dance from Marshmello and Chvrches, and rap from friend of the show A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.

Top of the Pops, 14th March 2019

It's another great week for heartfelt singer-songwriters: Tom Walker is able to perform a two-song medley of chart climbers, and Lewis Capaldi not only makes it two weeks at the top but also sees most of his other songs climb the chart in the wake of Someone You Loved. And do the Jonas Brothers count? They have the highest new entry.

In other news, friends of the show Little Mix at last manage to get on to perform Think About Us after six weeks climbing the chart, and their rent-a-rapper Ty Dolla $ign has another hit to perform as well. Mabel's chart run shows no sign of flagging - wonder if she'll make number 1 at some point? And would you believe Chip is making his TOTP debut, after at least one name change and ten years of being one of Britain's worst rappers.
