Top of the Pops, 2nd March 2017

There's a bit of a Brits effect this week, with Coldplay and the Chainsmokers being the most obvious winners, but Take That also reminding us that they still mostly exist. Aside from that, Kygo and Selena Gomez have the biggest new track, and a slight lack of chart climbers allows rare TOTP appearances from actual bands The 1975 and Imagine Dragons.

Ed Sheeran is really something else, though. He's just dominating the chart at will at the moment, releasing another (de facto) single that shoots to join its older sister Shape Of You at the top of the chart. Sheeran appears again with a medley that gives us most of both tracks.

Top of the Pops, 2nd June 2016

We have some star power this week. There's the chart return of the Take That boys, guesting with Sigma, but that might even be eclipsed by a medley from friend of the show Justin Bieber. They rub shoulders with international glitterati Ariana Grande and Nick Jonas. Even Cookin' on 3 Burners are showing a nice bit of star potential as they debut.

At number one it's STILL the Drake track, which is approaching a half-Bryan Adams at the top. This week Drake takes the night off and guest vocalist Wizkid gives us a unique afro-style version with smooth backing from Craig David.

Debuts: Kungs, Cookin' on 3 Burners.

Top of the Pops, 4th December 2014

It's an unusually left-field line-up this week. Sure, Take That are at number 1, but the other notable new entries come from an extraordinarily slow ballad (Labrinth) and an unprecedented pop-pop-punk supergroup (McBusted).

Lower down we have film music from James Newton Howard (with J-Law's vocals, played over a Hunger Games montage) and some tips for next year in Years and Years and James Bay. And the Christmas cheer starts here: we take the first of our annual digs into the festive vault and bring out Mariah Carey.

Debuts: McBusted, James Bay.

McBusted - Air Guitar
