Chart history is made, as Three Lions leaps 23 places to hit the very top thanks to World Cup fever and some wholly acceptable performances from the brave England lads. Baddiel and Skinner, and at least some of the Lightning Seeds, come into the study to join the celebration.

It's almost a shame, since other things that would be big news - a new anthem from Drake, Green Day back in for some reason - are relegated to the footnotes. Never mind though - let's see how long the nation will stay football crazy.

Football looms large here. Mr Worldwide Pitbull jets in with his two co-vocalists in tow to bring us the official World Cup song, while Three Lions climbs high enough for us to show an original performance from those hopeful days in '96. More surprisingly, the late Rik Mayall's Noble England has entered the top ten, so is played over a thoughtful montage.

But it's Ella Henderson who lifts the trophy this week and makes her Top of the Pops debut. Raleigh Ritchie and Skepta also appear for the first time, and the line-up is completed by a slow burner from Foxes and Zedd.

It's Pharrell's week once again. Not only is the impish hat-donner now on a near-unprecedented third run at number one with a song newly anointed as a million-seller, he's also the ten-gallon musical brain behind Paloma Faith's new top ten entry; he duly larks around in the background of Paloma's performance before inviting her to join his own.
