Top of the Pops, 5th June 2025

The good times continue to roll for Alex Warren: not only does he make it to eleven weeks at number 1, he also has the highest new entry with another song! Chappell Roan bobs back up to number 2 again but you feel it will take something more to dislodge Mr Warren.

Lower down the top 40 King Ed Sheeran continues his low-key album campaign, and there are some interesting debuts and another hit for 2025's most likely lad, Myles Smith. Between MGK and Alex Warren's collaborator Jelly Roll, it's a good week for unhealthy looking Americans. Tate McRae is on the show again also, battling her way into the public consciousness by force of will.

Top of the Pops, 22nd May 2025

Some quietly impressive chart climbs this week: Sombr's secondary hit reaches a new peak, and number 1 resident Alex Warren is now just one place short of having two top ten hits at once. Lusty-lunged Benson Boone and Tate McRae are also making progress.

Top of the Pops, 24th April 2025

Alex Warren is still fairly uncontested at the top, but there's a notable chart achievement from Sombr, whose multiple tracks on the chart permit a fourth consecutive showing from the new artiste.

Aside from that we have a couple of climbers, a debut and a big re-entry, and a real curiosity in the shape of Jack Black's very short song from the Minecraft film: he makes the most of his screen time with an outlandish costume and a confetti cannon.

Debuts: Ely Oaks

A few Christmas favourites are starting to encroach into the chart, but Top of the Pops is holding its festive horses for now. Instead the show is able to feature a bonanza of new entries, from Jin, Linkin Park, Tate McRae, Sabrina Carpenter and most impressively Sam Fender's triumphant re-emergence at number 4.

Elsewhere there are strong showings for tracks from the recent albums by Tyler the Creator and Linkin Park, an oddball 80s reswizzling by PAWSA, and Gracie Abrams continuing her dream autumn at number 1.

Incredible scenes this week as the number 1 single is... not Sabrina Carpenter! Instead it's Gigi Perez, capping off one of the more impressive chart climbs of the year with (at least) a week at the very top. Sabrina is not to be defeated completely though, as newer hit Bed Chem is looming ominously in the lower reaches of the top ten.

Other big news includes a big new entry from Lady Gaga, and the release of Tyler the Creator's album, sampled here with two choice tracks. Addison Rae doubles up as well, adding new hit Aquamarine to the still-climbing Diet Pepsi.

Given their ubiquity just lately it would be a bit of a shock if the Last Dinner Party weren't on Top of the Pops - but here they are to open the show. Just pipping them as a high climber, though, is YG Marley, so he could be one to watch.

Megan Thee Stallion completes a trio of new entries, complementing some of the bigger hits from last year from Casso, Tate McRae and Sonny Fodera which take their 2023 momentum into a second month. It's the post-Christmas chart, which means that everyone is going UP, which means a high-quality show where everyone is in the top ten - a true rundown of what's popular right now. That means a lot of the strongest tracks from the second half of last year, but also Sophie Ellis Bextor riding the Saltburn wave, who takes the TOTP stage for the first time in a long time and shows the rest how it's done.

Other than that, Tate McRae has a big moment with two top 20 singles, and Noah Kahan finally takes the top spot after a few patient weeks waiting for Wham! to clear out of the way.
