It's quite a male line-up this week, with only Ava Max flying the female flag - even the first lady of country and western Beyonce has been knocked off the top spot in favour of Benson Boone and his questionable gender politics. Still, there are fairly storming performances from hoary growlers Teddy Swims and Rag 'N' Bone Man, and a more polished offering from V.

Noah Kahan makes a surprise return to the show, and the show is somewhat stolen by none other than Mark Knopfler and a stage full of six-string virtuosi.

Immovable at the top just now, Noah Kahan also has this week's highest new entry, so Sam Fender joins him in a double bill to close the show. Just before that Sophie Ellis-Bextor celebrates her continued resurgence with a special contemporary update of Murder On The Dancefloor.

There's also a debut for Songer, a return for friend of the show Becky Hill, and a slightly rum collaboration from The Weeknd. And were it not for Bextor, Natasha Bedingfield would be attracting quite a lot of attention for her own triumphant comeback - can she breach the top ten?

A couple of legends grace our screens this week - after all, it's not like they're doing anything else. We have 50 Cent accompanying Roddy Ricch and a recording of Pop Smoke, and then none other than Tina Turner deigning to join in with Kygo's plunking.

There are exciting new entries from Miley Cyrus and Lil Durk, and possibly unexpected appearances from DJ Khaled and Diplo. MNEK and Corry are immovable at the summit.

After last week's chart mayhem, this TOTP is the complete opposite: every song in the top 5 gets to appear, and they're all tracks that have been around for quite some time. Crowning it all is King Ed Sheeran, still top of the chart, though he mixes it up a bit by mixing in a bit of Beautiful People, thanks to a cameo by friend of the show Khalid.

For a bit of variety we do have a triple bill from Burna Boy, who features on three chart climbers this week. He performs his bits of all of them, bringing along TOTP debutante Mahalia to help with the most obscure of the three.

And Shawn Mendes is back to give us the standard version of his duet with Camila Cabello.

She hasn't been away all that long, but it's nice to see Ariana Grande hasn't lost her ability to materialise in the upper reaches of the chart at will. King Ed Sheeran, alongside the mighty Stormzy, is also now making inroads with yet another of his wildly popular duets.

In other news, we get a couple of round-ups of some lower-down hits thanks to three-song medleys from Drake and new friend of the show Aitch. And with Shawn Mendes unavailable, it falls to Stormzy to serenade Camila Cabello in the top position.

Two earth-shaking entries rock the top five: Taylor Swift returning alongside Brendon Urie, and the mighty Stormzy knocking Lil Nas X off the chart pinnacle.

There's also Rita Ora featuring on a Kygo track, friend of the show Zara Larsson, and two and a half minutes of birdsong from the RSPB, so that's enjoyable.

Huge, old-style new entry incoming: DJ Khaled and a bunch of people but, to be fair, mainly Justin Bieber smash their way in at number 1. Khaled is here and, while he hasn't brough all his buds, Justin is in the building. Hooray! Not only that: since he's here, he's also good enough to take the stage with Demi Lovato and do the male voice bits in her song that sound more or less like him anyway on the record.

Also invading our airspace are Ellie Goulding and Charlie Puth, and there are longer runners from Disciples, Anne-Marie (who just can't say goodbye) and J Hus. Mr Hus also injects a bit of newness into an exclusive version of Rag 'n' Bone Man's modern classic.

The post-Sheermageddon era, week 1. As demand for Divide eases somewhat, the more popular non-Ed tracks regroup and make modest rises, so this week's show is a bit of a showcase for most of the main current hits. That means Rag 'n' Bone Man, Coldplay and the 'Smokers, Jax Jones and the newish one from Zedd and Alessia Cara.

It also means Kygo and Selena Gomez, but Selena is elsewhere so who better to fill in than Captain Ed himself? He also closes the show with another album sampler - eight tracks from Divide have now been featured.

However, the biggest news for long-time fans is the return of the mighty Steps. They have this week's highest new entry, which is good for one more TOTP appearance.

There's a bit of a Brits effect this week, with Coldplay and the Chainsmokers being the most obvious winners, but Take That also reminding us that they still mostly exist. Aside from that, Kygo and Selena Gomez have the biggest new track, and a slight lack of chart climbers allows rare TOTP appearances from actual bands The 1975 and Imagine Dragons.

Ed Sheeran is really something else, though. He's just dominating the chart at will at the moment, releasing another (de facto) single that shoots to join its older sister Shape Of You at the top of the chart. Sheeran appears again with a medley that gives us most of both tracks.

There are no new entries at all in the top 40 this week. However, there are a lot of climbers - many of them the same songs as were rising a fortnight ago, so we welcome back Little Mix, Zara Larsson, Alessia Cara, Jason Derulo and Ellie Goulding, as well as Lukas Graham who vault straight into the top spot. It's as pure pop a line-up as you'll see on the show, and many of the repeat performers are good enough to drop in little twists to change things up. Ellie Goulding is backed by a German oompah band.

Filling out the line-up are friends of the show Kygo and Coldplay, the latter fresh from their Superbowl triumph-style event.

TOTP is all about music, entertainment, showbiz, glitz, and winning the heart of the nation, so how could it not pay tribute to David Bowie? We show a classic performance of "Heroes", his highest-charting single of a dozen re-entering the chart this week.

Aside from that we see quite a few climbers, notably from David Guetta and the ever wonderful Craig David - and indeed the two team up for a special re-interpretation of Bang My Head: double David. Justin Bieber is firmly ensconced at number 1, but it's only the video, not a studio performance.
