Top of the Pops, 24th November 2016

Christmas is clearly getting close. The show this week is unusually dominated by artists who tend to sell more than stream; those, in other words, whose albums are gearing up for the December market. Not completely dominated, though - I don't think Zay Hilfiger and Zayion McCall fall into that category, for example.

A couple of neat exclusives bookend the show. First, Mark Morrison rocks up in person to breathe life into his resurrected, re-jigged hit alongside Fetty Wap and Nevada. And then Robbie Williams, most of whose songs seem to be about his daughter these days, makes a very apt guest appearance on Clean Bandit's parent-centric Rockabye. You'll only see it here, folks.

Debuts: Nevada, Zay Hilfiger, Zayion McCall.

Top of the Pops, 3rd December 2015

Justin Bieber dominates the top 40 this week, but Justin himself is otherwise engaged so we only get the video for his number 1 hit, Sorry. Sorry. That means we have to look some way down the chart to fill up our show, giving opportunities to exciting bubblers-under Robin Schulz and Yates, Grace, and Shawn Mendes.

Friends of the show The Weeknd and Ed Sheeran also return to ramp up the star power, and we welcome Nathan Sykes, a former member of The Wanted, for a second solo appearance.

Debuts: Grace, G-Eazy, Robin Schulz, Yates, Shawn Mendes.

Top of the Pops, 16th July 2015

This is the week the chart changes from Sunday to Friday, though TOTP of course remains in its Thursday slot, now with a whole week to book the acts. What it does mean is that there's more chart upheaval than usual, with David Zowie the big winner from a 51-place leap to the top.

We also have Fifth Harmony with their best-ever chart place, the new one from Years & Years, and another performance from friend of the show The Weeknd. No idea why Ginuwine is back in the chart but he is, so we dig out an old clip for everyone's enjoyment.

Debuts: Nathan Sykes, Petite Meller, David Zowie.

The Weeknd - The Hills
