Top of the Pops, 15th May 2025

Alex Warren makes it eight weeks at number 1: this is a serious run now, and he invites Chrystal to contribute to a moody techno reimagining of the song to celebrate. At the other end of the musical spectrum, maybe, are raucous debutantes KATSEYE, and there are other new entries from Jorja Smith and a surprisingly mid-table King Ed Sheeran.

Sombr also returns once more, as do the likeable Nathan Dawe and Myles Smith.

Top of the Pops, 9th January 2025

Happy 2025 and we start with the strangest chart of the year, when all the Christmas songs melt away like snow, making way for a top ten best summarised as "bangers from the last four months". That means a high-quality show with Gigi Perez, Teddy Swims and Gracie Abrams and others all lined up to reprise their pre-Christmas hits.

Amid all that, there's a new entry for Ella Henderson, while Lola Young may have the most potential of the just-before-Christmas bubbler-unders.

Debuts: None.

Rose ft. Bruno Mars - APT

Up 26 to number 2

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande - Defying Gravity

Up 48 to number 10

Ella Henderson - Filthy Rich

Highest New Entry - In at number 58

Lola Young - Messy

Gigi Perez - Sailor Song

Up 67 to number 4

Chrystal - The Days

Up 44 to number 5

Teddy Swims - The Door / Bad Dreams

Back in at number 6 / Back in at number 7

Gracie Abrams - That's So True / Close To You

Up 20 to number 1 / Back in at number 37

Top of the Pops, 12th December 2024

Here we are at the last Top Of The Pops of the year and the chart is pretty much snowed in now - only the Wicked soundtrack, Chrystal, and the laudable anomaly of Gracie Abrams at number 1 are not in the festive category.

So, we've got oldies from Wham! and Brenda Lee, newies from Tom Grennan and Laufey, and a new version of an oldie from Mariah with full military support. Merry Christmas!

Debuts: Laufey

Chrystal - The Days

Up 12 to number 38

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo - What Is This Feeling

Up 1 to number 16

Wham! - Last Christmas

Up 6 to number 2

Tom Grennan - It Can't Be Christmas

Laufey - Winter Wonderland

Up 31 to number 24

Mariah Carey ft. the First Battalion Scots Guards Pipes and Drums - All I Want For Christmas Is You

Up 5 to number 5

Gracie Abrams - That's So True

Fifth week at number 1
