Top of the Pops, 29th January 2026

A lot of fallers in the top 40 means that it's one of those weeks when the TOTP producers get to explore the lower reaches a bit. They find the evergreen People Watching from the hugely popular Sam Fender, a longtime bubbler-under from Addison Rae, and the first appearance in a long while from ASAP Rocky.

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars are going back up the chart for whatever reason, as are the Cure, who get the From The Vault slot. There are strong new showings from Gunna and friend of the show Zara Larsson, while Dave (with Tems of course) gets a richly deserved, or even somewhat belated, number 1 hit.

Toes are tapping this week to the huge new entry from Bruno Mars, though he can't get especially close to Djo at the top, who appears with a double bill this week. Sienna Spiro makes it two TOTPs in a row as her secondary hit You Stole The Show is climbing, as does Zara Larsson, who performs this week alongside Pinkpantheress.

There are 2025 reprises from Sonny Fodera, Kehlani and EsDeeKid, while more new material comes from Zach Bryan.

Top of the Pops, 15th January 2026

The new year is getting off to a pretty interesting start here. We've got the least predictable number 1 hit for some time, from Djo, and another surprise top ten re-entry from Zara Larsson. There's also new material from international K-poppers KATSEYE and debutant James Marriott.

Haven, Sienna Spiro and of course Olivia Dean reprise their big songs from last year, while in a chart that contains quite a few oldies, Prince takes the From The Vault slot.

Top of the Pops, 18th December 2025

We've found three non-Christmas hits to open the show with this week: Zara Larsson is randomly back in the chart, Olivia Dean cannot be defeated even by Santa, and Sonny Fodera is doing remarkably well, though still barged out of the top 50.

After that it's wall-to-wall tinsel, with a new one from Gwen Stefani, another four-oldie round-up, a modern classic from Leona Lewis and even an appearance from King Ed Sheeran. Wham! process imperiously to the top spot, as is their right.

International superstar Jung Kook is also resurgent, and Olivia Rodrigo hits the top 20 with yet another new track.

Longtime friend of the show Zara Larsson makes a welcome appearance, but of course the top spot is reserved for the Fab Four: Ringo appears in the studio to introduce a video montage.

Top of the Pops, 13th April 2023

In a slightly surprising development, Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding leap up to replace Ed Sheeran at the top after only a week! Elsewhere on the chart a few fallers from near the top mean that some long-running hits get to shuffle up a bit - not least Harry Styles who celebrates a year on the hit parade with a special steel drum-assisted performance.

We're also able to give a first exposure to some hits that have been quietly climbing for a while now, so welcome Tom Grennan, Meghan Trainor, Nathan Dawe and friend of the show Zara Larsson. Mimi Webb also gives us a special extra-dubby version of Red Flags.

Happy New Year! It's the crazy post-Christmas chart where literally every single song is a climber, which combined with the lack of a regular show last week means that the entire top 7 is eligible to be featured. How many of them could you guess? You'd probably get Ed Sheeran, Eminem and Rita Ora, but MK and Big Shaq provide a couple of curveballs.

Lots of climbers also means lots of acts with multiple hits, so Clean Bandit give us an all star best of 2017 medley, and Camila Cabello drops a bit of her new single in alongside the evergreen Havana. The one new hit comes from Keala Settle, with her show-stopper from the film The Greatest Showman.

Friends of the show super team-up Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson have had one of the more compelling climbs to number 1 of recent years, so it's great to welcome them into the studio once again for a triumphant performance, backed up by (most of) a full orchestra. Other familiar faces in attendance include Little Mix (but with the added bonus of Machine Gun Kelly inserting his rap), Rag 'n' Bone Man and Jason Derulo (plus Nicki Minaj again - wow!)

There's also plenty of new stuff again, from Luis Fonsi, French Montana and red pill hero Shawn Mendes. And ZAYN swings by for a compelling stripped-back performance of Still Got Time.

We are favoured with a few special performances this week. Friends of the show Coldplay are here for a heartfelt, Chainsmokerless rendition of Something Just Like This. And Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson do a two-song medley, with Mr Marley popping up again to fill in for Sean Paul.

We've also got a run-down of the biggest hits of the day from Jax Jones, Alessia Cara and Julia Michaels, and a rare sighting of international megastar Kendrick Lamar. Captain Ed is still number 1.

Top of the Pops, 30th March 2017

At one third Sheeran, one third Drake, the chart's looking more broken than ever. Luckily Top Of The Pops just about manages to put together a viable line-up and there's actually plenty to get excited about, even aside from this very historic period in singles chart terms.

Top billing has to go to man of the moment Drake, who appears to perform three of his twenty-two current hits. British rapper Giggs joins him to feature on two of those tracks. Also new is the massive friend of the show team-up from Clean Bandit and Zara Larsson, who never disappoint on the TOTP stage.

We also have transatlantic stars Ariana Grande and John Legend with a charming performance of the Beauty and the Beast theme, long-running hits from Anne-Marie, Bruno Mars and Martin Jensen, and the return of the slow burner from Julia Michaels. Captain Ed is still top; he plays Shape Of You on the banjo this week for a bit of variety.

Oh, and Katy Perry, who not only performs her comeback single but does a cheeky turn taking Taylor Swift's lines on the ZAYN track. Only on TOTP, folks.

The show is bookended by hoarier fare, though, with Rag 'N' Bone Man kicking things off and the immovable Ed Sheeran closing the show. Tracks from X are climbing the chart again, so he's even able to mix a bit of Thinking Out Loud into the new one for all you eager fans.

The Christmas invasion has set in, so there is hot (or cold) competition for the From The Vault slot this week. Main billing is given to the Pogues but there's also room for clips of Wham!, Shakin' Stevens, Wizzard and others. A secondary effect of all these older songs climbing the chart is that we have to look a little lower down for current acts to invite, meaning that Charli XCX, John Legend and (wow!) Adele return to the show with tracks that have been in the lower part of the chart for a few weeks or longer.

Sean Paul is back with a rare lead artist credit, bringing Brits Critics' Choice nominee and burgeoning friend of the show Dua Lipa along with him. And then - why not? - the two of them stay on for another exclusive interpretation of Clean Bandit's now five-week number 1.
