Top of the Pops, 28th May 2015

A Taylor Swift TOTP appearance always feels like an event, and this week's is no exception. She and Kendrick Lamar have the highest new entry and turn up in some style with a performance inspired by the video - including on-stage cameos from Ellie Goulding and Cara Delevingne.

Elsewhere it's Ella Eyre's turn to ably fill in for Bieber on the Skrillex/Diplo (aka Jack U) track, while Jessie J and Ne-Yo climb the charts and fun debutants are flown in from as far away as Australia and YouTube World.

Multi-week chart climber OMI has now reached the top, so he is welcomed into the studio once again for a valedictory performance. There are also two debuts from artists who would have been heavily featured if TOTP had been on during the wilderness years: Justin Bieber and the ever ebullient Carly Rae Jepsen; it's a pretty ebullient week, in fact, with Meghan Trainor also featured. And praise the lord, Hozier has a new song out.

Top of the Pops, 23rd April 2015

Somewhat unusually, there are only two top ten hits on the show this week, from Dr Kucho and new number 1 artiste Wiz Khalifa (only the video for him as he's out of the country). Never fear, though, as the lower reaches of the chart bring us a Mumfords medley, an exclusive, never-to-be-repeated Skrillex/Lethal Bizzle collaboration, the delightful Meghan Trainor, and Kodaline.

Why have the Killers re-entered the top 75? Dunno, but it's nice to watch a clip of them in their prime nonetheless.

We have a week of climbers, mostly. Major Lazer and OMI were both on the show two weeks ago; they have been climbing since then so we now welcome them back, along with fellow near-constant risers Kygo and Conrad. Years and Years have also bobbed back up, though none bob so high as Jess Glynne.

In the new entry department we welcome a revitalised Nick Jonas and Voice winner Stevie McRorie, as well as Dutch deep housers Pep & Rash. Welcome all.
